Scattered storms possible across Colorado Monday
The clouds you're seeing now will continue throughout Monday. Expect isolated showers Monday afternoon along the Front Range. Although the threat is low, we will be watching the Eastern Plains for the possibility of severe weather. The chance for rain is ahead of a weak cold front that will drop temperatures throughout Colorado a few degrees. Southwestern Colorado has seen a lot of rain. A flood watch will stay in effect for that region until late Monday. Drier air moves into the state on Tuesday and will remain for the week. Expect sunshine and warm temperatures for the July 4th holiday.
House Republicans sue Garland, seeking Biden audio
Washington — House Republicans filed a lawsuit against Attorney General Merrick Garland on Monday as they seek audio recordings of President Biden's interview with special counsel Robert Hur as part of their impeachment inquiry. The House Judiciary Committee's lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Washington is the latest escalation in the fight over the audiotapes of Hur's interview with the president and the ghostwriter of his book, Mark Zwonitzer. Hur interviewed both men as investigated Mr. Biden's handling of classified documents. Boulder County enacts fire restrictions
Boulder County's sheriff enacted stage 1 fire restrictions. The restrictions are effective immediately. Restrictions mean residents cannot use charcoal grills, burn campfires on public lands, and shoot firearms for recreational purposes except for hunting on public lands. Washington — Trump ally Steve Bannon reported to federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut, on Monday to begin serving a four-month sentence for defying a subpoena from the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The Fort Collins Foxes, a Northern Colorado baseball team, dedicated one of their home games to local veterans by playing against a team of military members. The Justice Department has presented Boeing with a plea deal after it accused the airplane manufacturer of violating the terms of a 2021 deferred prosecution agreement that was put in place following two 737 Max crashes in 2018 and 2019.The Justice Department told Boeing it could plead guilty or go to trial, people familiar with the talks confirmed to CBS News. Large RV recovered from river of Big Thompson Canyon in Colorado
Officials with the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority say a large RV was recovered from the river in the Big Thompson Canyon. According to the agency, LFRA Engine 47 and the Canyon Battalion responded to a vehicle accident involving a large RV on West Highway 34 in the Big Thompson Canyon just before 2 p.m. on Saturday. The RV fell approximately 75 feet down the embankment and into the river as the driver was able to escape from the vehicle and was eventually evaluated by medical personnel on the scene., according to Loveland Fire Rescue Authority. The incident prompted a swift-water rescue to assist the operation of removing the RV from the water with Spartan Towing and Reliable Towing. It took a total of six hours to get the RV out of the water, according to Loveland Fire Rescue Authority.
West Metro Fire Rescue responds to garage fire near Morrison Road
West Metro Fire Rescue says crews responded to a garage fire at a single-family home near Morrison Road and Kipling Street on Sunday.Upon arrival, heavy smoke was seen for several blocks which resulted in crews to execute an offensive strategy. An update was issued from WMFR around 12:39 p.m. that the fire affected a detached garage and there was heavy smoke and flames when crews arrived to the scene. The garage was ruled a total loss following a partial roof collapse, according to WMFR. There were no injuries reported as the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Suspect in Smoky Hill Rd shooting charged with attempted murder, bond at $2M
The suspect in the Smoky Hill Road shooting in Aurora has been charged with first-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault, according to jail records. On Thursday, two women and a man were shot near homes in the area of E. Smoky Hill Road and E. The victims of a fatal crash that happened on eastbound I-70, just east of the Avon 167 interchange have been identified.It was confirmed with CBS News Colorado by Stephanie Thompson that Tom and Carolyn Raymond died in the crash that happened Saturday afternoon. Bike stolen outside Walmart returned to 12-year-old boy
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office posted a message on X, announcing that a 12-year-old boy's bike that was stolen by a suspect outside of a Walmart has been returned.Jeffco deputies said the bike was returned to the 12-year-old, named Alex, in perfect condition and thanked the public's help. Investigators said on June 19 around 1:15 p.m., the boy rode his bike to the Walmart located at 13420 Coalmine Ave, to buy fishing tackle when he locked up his bike outside and went inside the store. The suspect went into the store where he stole bolt cutters and used them to steal the bike. Although the bike was returned, deputies are still searching for the suspect. He was described as a white male who was wearing a blue T-shirt with the words COLUMBIA and a logo on the back, blue/black shorts, white tennis shoes with black short socks and a black and white baseball hat with a logo.
