Grand Prairie ISD closed Wednesday after "foaming agent" found in city water supply 03:07

GRAND PRAIRIE — The City of Grand Prairie warned residents living north of I-20 not to use city drinking water after a foaming agent was found in the water supply Tuesday evening.

Grand Prairie ISD closed all schools on Wednesday due to the water issue and said it would resume the regular schedule on Thursday.

In a post to Facebook, the city said crews are actively investigating the affected area.

"If you live north of I-20 in Grand Prairie, please avoid using water other than for flushing until further notice," the city said.

The city advised residents to not treat the water themselves and said that boiling, freezing, filtering, adding chlorine or other disinfectants, or letting water stand will not make the water safe. The city said to not consume the water in any way, including:

    • Drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making beverages or ice
    • Pets or animals to drink
    • Dishwashing

Officials set up a bottled water distribution station in the front parking lot of city hall Tuesday night and handed out water until 2 a.m. Distribution resumes at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A list of additional distribution stations is posted at gptx.org . Residents with questions can also call 972-237-8400.

The FBI responded to a CBS News Texas inquiry saying they have not been notified of any issues.
