WATCH: Texas LB tries to plant Longhorns flag on midfield logo at Michigan Stadium after win over Wolverines

The No. 3 Texas Longhorns ruled the day in Ann Arbor with their resounding 31-12 win over No. 10 Michigan . During the postgame celebration, the Horns literally tried to mark their territory at The Big House, but it didn't quite work out the way they wanted.

After dominating Michigan for four quarters, Texas had plenty to celebrate when the clock hit zero. The Longhorns were enjoying the win with the visiting fans that remained in the stadium, and linebacker David Gbenda tried to put an exclamation point on the day.

Gbenda carried a Texas flag out to midfield and attempted to plant it in the middle of the block "M" logo. Unfortunately for Gbenda, the flag bounced off the artificial turf and fell over almost immediately.

The effort still got a nice pop from the Texas fans who stuck around to soak in the moment, so maybe it's the thought that counts in this instance.

Besides, the Longhorns didn't need the flag at midfield to display their dominance of the Wolverines. That was clear on the scoreboard and the stat sheet. Texas outgained Michigan 389-284 and won the turnover battle, 3-0.

Star quarterback Quinn Ewers asserted himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the country and proved that his team is a legitimate national title contender . He completed 24 of his 36 passing attempts for 246 yards and three touchdowns in a hostile environment.

Offensively, the Wolverines simply couldn't keep up with the Horns. Quarterback Davis Warren threw for just 204 yards, a touchdown, and two picks. The Texas defense also held a usually formidable Michigan running game to just 3.5 yards per carry.
