A baby is doing just fine after it was born in the parking lot of a Michigan truck stop early on Thursday morning.

The parents were reportedly on their way to Holland Hospital in Michigan after the mother went into labor, but quickly realized that there was not enough time to make it there. The couple then pulled into the Tulip City Truck Stop at around 3:30 a.m.

“The baby had other plans, deciding not to wait to get to the hospital to enter the world,”  said Robert Buursma with the Holland Department of Public Safety.

The couple called 911, and the dispatcher stayed on the phone as the baby was delivered inside of the SUV in the parking lot of the truck stop. Truck stop employees offered towels and any useful supplies they could until first responders arrived at the scene.

The new family was soon transported to a nearby hospital for a checkup, and both mother and baby are doing well, reported WZZM 13 .
