Officials in Washington State have arrested a suspect in connection with a series of interstate shootings in the Seattle area that left several people injured.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), a series of shootings started around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, September 2, on northbound I-5 between Federal Way and Seattle. Three shootings occurred in a span of about 20 minutes.

Around 11 p.m., three more shootings occurred on southbound I-5 between Federal Way and Pierce County, Washington.

A white Volvo passenger vehicle was identified as a suspect vehicle in the shootings.

Police say six people were injured in the shootings. Two people remain hospitalized, one in critical condition.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) , deputies responded shortly after 11 p.m. on September 2 to assist WSP with locating and detaining the shooting suspect. Deputies searched a residence but the suspect was not found.

As 12:15 am, on September 3, a PCSO deputy spotted the suspect vehicle at Boulder Apartments on Westridge Ave W. Police used stop sticks to disable the vehicle and initiated a felony traffic stop.

“The suspect was compliant and taken into custody by a Fircrest officer and WSP trooper,” PCSO said.

The suspect is facing first-degree assault charges.

The shooting spree remains under investigation.
