Happening this week in and around Cecil County:

Flowers By Lisa is now open in the Northside Plaza on North Bridge Street in Elkton.

For Lisa Crouse, owner of the florist and gift shop, this is a full circle moment.

“When I graduated from Cecil Vo-Tech (now Cecil County School of Technology) in 1996, I worked at North East Florist,” Crouse said, explaining how she used her certificate in flower and plant production. She also worked part time for Elkton Florist on occasion. However, she left flowers for the corporate world for about 30 years. When that job ended, Crouse said it made sense to go back to flowers. She also said it is a much needed business in Elkton since Elkton Florist closed last year.

Crouse is ready with bouquets and arrangements and she’s happy to make a custom arrangement as well.

“I can make an arrangements for graduation, dance recitals, Memorial Day,” she said. Browse her selection of flowers at FlowersByLisaElkton.com .

Crouse said she was touched by the gesture made by another business in the plaza Monday morning.

“The lady from Domain (Spa and Salon ) came in and bought a dozen roses,” Crouse said. She was celebrating making the first dollar for her new venture when the bouquet was then handed back to her as a congratulations for her opening. “I love a dozen roses. It’s my favorite thing.”

Flowers By Lisa is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Wednesday from 9 until 2 and 9 until noon on Saturday. Crouse can be reached at 667-577-3048.

Look for a grand opening to be held next month.
