COLORA — A woman who was caught with cocaine, fentanyl, a handgun and other contraband during a police raid at her Colora residence in February received a six-year prison term on Monday, after accepting a plea deal, according to Cecil County Circuit Court records.

Cecil County Circuit Court Judge Cameron A. Brown imposed a 20-year sentence on the defendant — Ashley L. Miller, 33 — for possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and then suspended all but five years of the penalty, court records show.

Brown imposed a second consecutive 20-year sentence on Miller for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and then suspended all but one year of that penalty, according to court records.

Miller will serve her six-year term in a Maryland Department of Corrections prison. The judge gave Miller credit for 185 days that she served as a pre-trial inmate in the Cecil County Detention Center after her arrest.

In addition, the judge ordered Miller to serve three years of supervised probation after completing her six-year prison term, court records show. Miller could face up to 34 additional years in prison — which is the total of the suspended portions of her two sentences — if she violates probation.

Miller had pleaded guilty to those two criminal charges earlier in Monday’s courtroom proceeding, as part of a plea agreement reached by Assistant State’s Attorney Scott Lewis and Miller’s lawyer, Assistant Public Defender Gary Brown III. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss 11 related charges against Miller, including possession of a firearm in a drug trafficking crime, as part of that plea deal.

The investigation leading to Miller’s convictions and six-year prison term started on Feb. 23. That’s when Maryland State Police Strategic Operations Group-North detectives raided Miller’s residence in the 300 block of Harrisville Road, after developing her as a suspect during an investigation into the “sales and distribution” of illegal drugs, police reported.

While searching the dwelling, investigators found and seized 475 baggies holding 97 grams of heroin/fentanyl, which equates to slightly more than three ounces, according to the original charging document. There are about 28 grams in one ounce.

They also confiscated nearly 40 ounces each of crystal meth and crack cocaine, both of which had been parceled into multiple baggies and containers, that charging document shows. In addition, investigators seized a .22 caliber handgun, a digital scale, $618 and a multi-page “drug ledger” listing names, drug transactions and “amount of monies owed,” court records show.

Investigators arrested Miller at her residence after the raid, police reported.
