W-SR Split with New Hampton; Plays at South Winn
Monday night on KWAY Country the Waverly-Shell Rock baseball team split with New Hampton. The Chickasaws took Game 1 4-0 to secure at least a share of the Northeast Iowa Conference championship. In Game 2 the Go-Hawks broke a 2-2 tie after a lightning delay in the top of the 7th inning to win 3-2.
Dike-New Hartford goes 0-2 against Don Bosco Monday
The Dike-New Hartford summer sports teams both fell at home to Don Bosco Monday. The baseball team fell 3-1 and the softball team lost 11-5. In the softball game, Don Bosco scored one in the top of the first. But the Wolverines answered in the bottom of the first with a Payton Nolan sacrifice bunt and a Madde Buskohl RBI single for a 2-1 lead. In the fifth, Nolan stole third and came home on an overthrown ball for a 3-2 lead. Macy Mracek and Aubrey Mracek each singled to drive in runs, and the Wolverines led 5-2 after the fifth. But the Dons came back with one run in the sixth and eight in the seventh. DNH (18-9) will close the regular season at Osage Wednesday.
