One hospitalized in serious condition in Cedar Grove car crash

A head-on collision in Cedar Grove left one driver hospitalized in serious condition, officials said.

At about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, a tractor trailer and a Sudan crashed on Ridge Road, said Detective Nicole Hoyt from the Cedar Grove Police Department.

The driver of the Sudan was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson for the injuries. The drivers of the vehicles were the only people involved in the crash.

Fuel spillage occurred from the collision. The Cedar Grove Fire Department and Nutley Hazmat were on scene and finished their task of cleaning up the fluids.

Hoyt said Ridge Road was closed as of 1 p.m. for the investigation, but should be opening soon.
