A $35,000 gift from Aegon Transamerica is helping support outdoor programs for Girl Scouts.

“We have always been incredibly passionate about getting girls connected to the outdoors,” says Diane Nelson, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. “Aegon Transamerica’s support means that we can continue to provide girls with high-quality programming, so we can get them excited about getting outside.”

Girl Scouts hike, kayak, rock climb, ride horses and sleep outdoors at camp, learning how nature positively impacts their physical and mental health. They try high-energy activities and learn that food and sleep can fuel their bodies to continue doing the activities they love with their friends.

The funding ensures that Girl Scouts can experience the outdoors while boosting their self-esteem and physical well-being. Thousands of girls, volunteers and families visit Camp Liberty, Camp Little Cloud and Camp L-Kee-Ta every year to develop their outdoor skills and experience nature.
