    Central Alabama firefighter killed in Blount County crash

    BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A firefighter who worked for two central Alabama stations was killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday night.

    Justin King, 23, was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on U.S. 31 when he struck a utility pole and was thrown off, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reports.

    King was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred around 8 p.m. on U.S. 31 near Church Street, roughly two miles south of Garden City.

    According to the Hoover Fire Department, King began working for the agency in Sept. 2023 and also worked part-time for the Center Point Fire District and Warrior Fire Department.

    The news of Kings’ death was initially verified by Center Point Fire District public information officer Chris Horn.

    No further information is available as ALEA continues to investigate.
