Center PD reports selfinflicted gunshot fatality

The Center Police Department responded June 29 to a 911 call for a shooting incident at 1016 Shelbyville Street in Center.

Officers found a male juvenile subject with a single gunshot wound to the neck. First arriving officers immediately started life saving measures and requested EMS. Allegiance Mobile Health arrived on scene and took over life saving measures, but ceased all life saving measures after several minutes. The Center Police Department Criminal Investigation Division began an investigation.

Shelby County J.P. 5 Tracy Broadway perform the inquest at the scene, and Mangum Funeral Home transported the decedent to Dallas for autopsy.

The shooting was found to be a self-inflicted gunshot.

This incident was an isolated incident, and there is no fear of harm to the public. This is an active investigation, and no further information is available currently.
