Missouri school district hopes new education leadership focuses on funding for rural teacher pay
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3) - As students prepare to return to classrooms in a month, small Missouri districts are struggling to keep up with new requirements. Small, rural districts like Tipton R-6, just west of Jefferson City, only have a couple hundred students. The Tipton Superintendent fears that they will not be able to pay their teachers the new required base salary of $40,000 for teachers unless the state renews the Teacher Baseline Salary Grant every year.
