Fast-food restaurant resurrects plan to move into plaza by Wegmans
It’s been seven years since fast-food giant McDonald’s proposed a plan to move into a shopping plaza in Clay. McDonald’s withdrew its application about 18 months after first submitting its proposal to build a restaurant in the Wegmans shopping plaza, off West Taft Road in Clay, said Clay planning officials.
Pepper spray goes off during ‘Twisters’ movie at Destiny USA; theater cleared, 1 hospitalized
Syracuse, N.Y. -- A pepper spray canister was set off in a movie theater Tuesday at Destiny USA, firefighters said. When firefighters arrived shortly after 1 p.m., they discovered a canister with a pepper spray substance that was accidentally dispersed, said District Chief Matt Craner, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Fire Department. The incident happened during a 12:30 p.m. showing of “Twisters” at Regal Destiny USA.
A Central New York restaurant with multiple identities has closed, citing rising costs
Cicero, N.Y. — A restaurant that combined a quirky diner, a classic sports pub, a pizzeria and one of Upstate New York’s best-known wing brands has closed permanently. The Cicero Eatery at 7785 Frontage Road closed Sunday, said Robb Bidwell, who owns the business with partner Doug Balle. It opened in 2021 as a second location for Armory Square’s Modern Malt diner, then transitioned to the Cicero Eatery in March 2023.
