    Sirens: Woman hit by car, refuses treatment; Man arrested for burglary after attack; laptop, prescription medications, laptop and iPad stolen from vehicle

    CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

    Possession of a stolen vehicle

    • At approximately 9:20 a.m. on July 12, officers received a Flock security camera system alert for a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Gresham, Oregon. An officer located the vehicle, which was occupied by three people, parked at a gas station in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. The driver, a 22-year-old Ocean Shores man, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and an outstanding felony warrant out of Cowlitz County. One of the passengers, a 23-year-old Longview man, was also arrested on an outstanding Cowlitz County warrant. During his arrest, he allegedly “claimed to have just swallowed fentanyl in an attempt to evade going to jail,” according to the Centralia Police Department. He was medically cleared at the hospital and was then cited for knowing possession of a controlled substance, providing false information to a public servant and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

    Malicious mischief

    • Vandalism to an exterior cable box in the 1200 block of North Tower Avenue was reported just before 9:50 a.m. on July 12.

    Disorderly conduct

    • A homeless California man was warned for disorderly conduct after he was reported for standing in the roadway and yelling in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue at approximately 10:35 a.m. on July 12.

    Vehicle accidents

    • A vehicle vs. pedestrian collision was reported at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and West Pear Street just before 11:05 a.m. on July 12. The pedestrian left the scene on foot. Officers were able to locate the pedestrian, a homeless woman who had apparent minor injuries. She refused medical care when offered.

    • A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Johnson Road and Harrison Avenue at 1:45 p.m. on July 12.

    • One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Mellen Street and the Interstate 5 Exit 81 on-ramp at approximately 10:05 a.m. on July 13. One vehicle reportedly failed to stop for a red light and collided with another vehicle that had the right-of-way. The at-fault driver was cited for failing to obey a traffic control device. Eastbound traffic in the 1400 block of Mellen Street was rerouted for about 40 minutes while crews worked to clear the roadway.

    Drug violations

    • A 44-year-old Packwood man was cited for possession of suspected meth and drug paraphernalia after he was arrested for an outstanding Chehalis Municipal Court warrant in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at 7:30 p.m. on July 12.

    • A 61-year-old homeless Centralia man was arrested on an outstanding Olympia municipal warrant after he was contacted for trespassing in a city park in the 500 block of North Pearl Street just after 2:50 a.m. on July 13. He was cited for knowing possession of meth and was turned over to the Olympia Police Department.

    Burglary

    • Keith J. Hill, 41, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree burglary after he allegedly forced his way into his neighbor’s apartment in the 500 block of North Rock Street and assaulted him at approximately 9:10 p.m. on July 12. The neighbor sustained minor injuries. Hill had a preliminary hearing for felony charges in Lewis County Superior Court scheduled for 4 p.m. on July 15.

    Dispute

    • A man reported he was assaulted by another man at a motel in the 1000 block of Eckerson road at 7:35 a.m. on July 13. Both men had minor injuries. Officers determined the man who called the police was the primary aggressor and had started the fight. The other man did not wish to press charges.

    Theft

    • Just after 11:40 a.m. on July 11, a citizen reported a vehicle parked overnight in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue had its back window broken out sometime overnight, and an ID and credit cards had been stolen from the vehicle.

    • Jewelry was reported stolen from the intersection of Ellsbury Street and Art Lehmann Drive at 11:15 a.m. on July 14. The case is under investigation.

    Found dog

    • An elderly long-hair chihuahua was found laying in the brush by a walking trail in Borst Park at approximately 2:20 p.m. on July 13. The dog was secured and taken to a kennel, where it was given food and water before it was later reunited with its owner.

    CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

    Assault

    • A woman was cited for fourth-degree assault in the 100 block of Southwest Sixth Street at 7:35 a.m. on July 11.

    • Just before 11:05 a.m. on July 11, a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue reported a subject “reached up and ran his arm over (a) staff member’s chest” about an hour and a half prior.

    • A man allegedly assaulted a woman in the 1300 block of Northwest Airport Road at approximately 9:35 p.m. on July 13 and fled the scene. Second-degree assault charges have been referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office.

    • A fourth-degree assault reported in the 300 block of Northwest Florida Avenue just after 12:25 a.m. on July 15 is under investigation.

    Criminal trespass

    • A man was cited for trespassing at a motel in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 9:45 a.m. on July 11.

    • People were reportedly trespassing on a residential property in the 700 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue just before 9:50 p.m. on July 11.

    • A criminal trespass reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 1:30 p.m. on July 12 is under investigation.

    • A man who was reportedly trying to get into a coffee stand in the 200 block of West Main Street while an employee was closing just after 11:05 p.m. on July 12 was trespassed from the business.

    • Four teenage boys who were “pushing and shoving other kids” and “throwing up gang signs” at a theater in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe way at 6:25 p.m. on July 13 were trespassed from the theater.

    • A man who was camping in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 8:45 p.m. on July 13 was moved along.

    • A man in a motorhome was moved along from the 2100 block of North National Avenue at 9:20 p.m. on July 14.

    • A man who was pounding on the window of a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 2:25 a.m. on July 15 was trespassed from the business.

    • A man was reportedly walking on the train tracks at the intersection of Sturdevant and Chase roads just after 3:35 a.m. on July 15.

    Deaths

    • A death by cardiac arrest was reported in the 2200 block of Jackson Highway at approximately 10:40 a.m. on July 11.

    • A death reported in the 100 block of Alderwood Drive at 7:30 a.m. on July 13 is under investigation.

    • A death reported in the 400 block of Southwest 15th Street at 1:55 p.m. on July 14 is under investigation.

    Theft

    • A second-degree theft reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 11:50 a.m. on July 11 is under investigation.

    • A silver Mini Cooper was reported stolen from the 10 block of South Market Boulevard just after 5 p.m. on July 11.

    • A backpack containing a laptop, prescription medications, a laptop and an iPad was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:10 p.m. on July 21. The suspect was located and arrested.

    • Just after 7:10 p.m. on July 13, a citizen reported a purse containing two credit cards, a driver’s license and $70 in cash was stolen from the 1700 block of North National Avenue about three hours prior.

    • A shoplift was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 1:35 p.m. on July 14. The suspect was arrested.

    • A man reportedly approached an employee at a business in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue, breathed in his ear, and left the business with a stolen chop saw blade at 7:05 a.m. on July 14. He was arrested after he was seen hitting car windows with a stick.

    Vehicle accidents

    • A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Pacific Avenue and Northwest Prindle Street just after 12:30 p.m. on July 11.

    • One subject reported head and neck pain following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just before 2:10 p.m. on July 12.

    • A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:25 p.m. on July 13.

    • A possible neck injury was reported following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Southwest Parkland Drive and the northbound Interstate 5 Exit 76 offramp at 5:15 p.m. on July 14.

    Scam

    • A phone scam was reported in the 200 block of Southeast Winchester Hill Drive just after 5:55 p.m. on July 11.

    Suspicious circumstances

    • Just before 8:15 p.m. on July 11, a woman in the 300 block of Northwest State Avenue reported people were following her and harassing her by saying they’re going to kidnap her and take her to a “birthday party” where “they take you somewhere secret, strip you down, tie you up and sexually abuse you.” The woman reportedly has a history of mental health issues, including claiming that people were talking to her via baby monitors, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

    • At approximately 7;05 a.m. on July 12, a citizen at the intersection of Southwest John Street and Southwest Pacific Avenue reported a man drove by while the reporting party was sitting on the sidewalk on his phone and said he “doesn’t like people like you” and “I have something for people like you: a bullet in your head,” then drove away.

    • A man was reportedly seen standing outside an RV with a broken window in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue while holding a shotgun just before 8:15 a.m. on July 12.

    • A 24-year-old woman was reportedly making vague threats to injure her grandparents in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 4:40 p.m. on July 12.

    • A woman reportedly threatened to assault another woman and her boyfriend in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 9:05 p.m. on July 12.

    • Suspicious circumstances reported in the 900 block of Southeast Adams Avenue at 10:35 p.m. on July 12 are under investigation.

    • A man reportedly chased a 16-year-old girl in the 300 block of Southwest 10th Street just after 7:45 p.m. on July 13. He reportedly said hi to her and began walking behind her. He reportedly fled in the other direction when the girl started running.

    • “Suspicious activity” reported in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 11:40 p.m. on July 13 is under investigation.

    Disorderly conduct

    • A woman was reportedly yelling and hitting a fence with a bat in the 200 block of Southwest John Street just before 11:15 p.m. on July 11. The reporting party advised the woman had been doing this for the last two hours.

    • A woman was reportedly yelling and cursing in the 100 block of Southwest William Avenue just after 5:35 a.m. on July 12.

    • A customer reportedly refused to leave a business in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and threatened to assault an employee at 7:35 p.m. on July 13.

    Sexual misconduct

    • A report of sexual misconduct made in the 200 block of Southwest 11th Street at approximately 8:55 a.m. on July 12 is under investigation.

    Disputes

    • A verbal dispute over one driver cutting the other driver off on the freeway was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 1 p.m. on July 12.

    • A verbal dispute was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Ninth Street at 11:05 a.m. on July 14.

    Animal negligence/abuse

    • A pitbull that appeared “very bony” and “appeared to be having some difficulties breathing” was reported in the 200 block of Southwest Third Street at approximately 2:15 p.m. on July 12.

    • A German shepherd was reportedly “struggling sitting in direct sunlight” in the bed of a truck parked in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 3:05 p.m. on July 13. An officer contacted the truck’s occupants, who confirmed they stopped to grab water and a dish for the dog. The officer confirmed the dog was not in distress.

    Recovered vehicle

    • A vehicle that was reported stolen out of Portland was recovered in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:25 p.m. on July 13. A suspect was arrested.

    Malicious mischief

    • Just after 2:35 a.m. on July 14, a citizen reported all of the windows to a business in the 600 block of North National Avenue had been smashed in. The suspect is reportedly a bald man who possibly has a tattoo on his head.

    Child abuse

    • Possible child abuse was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:55 p.m. on July 14 after a citizen reported seeing a child between the ages of 2 and 3 with bruises all over her back.

    Fraud

    • Two customers at a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard reportedly paid with counterfeit money just after 6:30 p.m. on July 14.

    JAIL STATISTICS

    • As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 129 inmates, including 116 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 87 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

    • As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 12 inmates, including four booked by the Centralia Police Department, six booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by the City of Elma.

    FIRE AND EMS CALLS

    • Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 93 illness-related calls, 13 injury-related calls, 17 fire-related calls, six non-emergency service calls, 11 vehicle accidents, eight Lifeline medical alerts, two rescues, two ambulance requests, one medical helicopter request, two hazardous conditions reports, one 911 hangup call and four other calls.
