    Century man arrested after hours-long standoff: Escambia County Sheriff’s Office

    ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. ( WKRG ) — A man was arrested after warrant-serving turned into an hours-long standoff, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

    Officials said that 48-year-old John McDowell, of Century, was arrested on Sunday after deputies with ECSO responded to a home on Highway 97 around 5 p.m., having received a tip that a man with warrants out of Escambia County, Ala. was inside.

    According to officials, McDowell would not come out, so SWAT and negotiation teams were activated.

    The standoff lasted for about four hours before McDowell reportedly came out without incident.

    McDowell was booked into Escambia County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Alabama, officials said.
