While there was no gameplay reveal of how Lucy would look in-game, Arc Systems Works had some quick snaps of what to expect from season 4. Season 4’s fighters will include Guilty Gear X veteran Dizzy, who is currently planned for October. Venom, who also first appeared in Guilty Gear X , is planned for next year, as is Unika, a new character.
Dizzy has been most recognized for her shapeshifting wings, also called her guardians, who are known as Necro and Undine. Ky Kiske is her husband, while Sin Kiske is her son. As a half-Gear and half-human hybrid, Dizzy is canonically a crazy powerful character. It will be interesting to see what mechanics Guilty Gear Strive will do to incorporate her iconic shape-shifting wings. Venom is an assassin of the Assassin’s Guild who has direct connections to Zato-1 himself. His unique weapon of choice is a pool cue, which can attack opponents with billiard balls.
Unika is new to the Guilty Gear series but is also expected to appear in the upcoming anime Guilty Gear Strive Dual Rulers . While not much is known about her, it seems that Unika is motivated by the goal of destroying every last Gear. Being that she’s a complete newcomer with unknown origins, her gameplay style is currently a mystery, too. However, we can expect her to cross paths with Ky Kiske at some point in the anime.
Aside from characters being added, there was also a new “Team of 3” mode being added. An open beta test for the Team of 3 Mode is set to release on July 25, which will be free to everyone, not just current owners of Guilty Gear Strive . The trailer also promised some new colour, probably some kind of throwback art styles from previous games. Like many fighting games, new stages will also be coming and a more detailed breakdown will come later.
CD Projekt Red and Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was released in September 2021 and was a hit, winning the Crunchyroll Anime Award for best breakout anime of the year. The show’s success also led to a major increase in sales of the game Cyberpunk 2077. At the time of the anime’s release CD Projekt’s chief financial officer, Piotr Nielubowicz stated, “the popularity of the anime series, along with positive reception of the update, visibly affected unit sales of Cyberpunk [2077].”
