The first A Minecraft Movie teaser trailer has launched on Wednesday, and it showcases literal Minecraft creations made authentically realistic.

Since 2014, Mojang Studios and Warner Bros. have been in collaboration, attempting to get A Minecraft Movie made. A lifelike, true-to-form Minecraft film that embraces all of the zaniness of the games including the ‘build anything’ aspect. With millions of players logging in every day to Minecraft servers, a film adaptation is a no-brainer, but the studios have had notable trouble getting the movie off the ground for the past decade until today. Warner Bros. and Mojang Studios have finally got their first teaser trailer for A Minecraft Movie out into the wild and it can be seen below.

The trailer kickstarts by injecting real-life people (in this case actors Jason Momoa , Emma Meyers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen and Jack Black) into the blocky world of Minecraft. Instead of opting for blocky characters like those presented in Minecraft , A Minecraft Movie has taken the liberty of making their blocky creatures more realistic which has given them a notable fleshy appearance. Take a look at the pig below, the angles from its block counterpart are there but so is lifelike realism that makes it appear as if Minecraft has been featured in an episode of Goosebumps .

The trailer doesn’t give too much of the story away either. It seems the heroes of A Minecraft Movie have been pulled into its universe, and to get back home they have to protect the Overworld while embarking on a magical quest to fell the rampaging Ender Dragon. Of course, like the LEGO Movie film, A Minecraft Movie features a master crafter, Steve (played by Jack Black) who will likely play a pivotal role in the film’s events.

Jared Hess serves as director of A Minecraft Movie , and fans will be able to see it in theatres on April 4, 2025. More info can be found on the Warner Bros. website .
