Barenaked Ladies making September tour stop in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - The Barenaked Ladies with special guest Toad The Wet Sprocket will be making a tour stop in Lincoln in a few weeks. The bands are scheduled to perform at the Pinewood Bowl Theater on Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. on their U.S. tour. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Omaha schools take A and B titles, at Beatrice Girls Invitational Golf

18-year-old convicted of killing Omaha man at apartment complex sentenced to decades in prison
OMAHA, Neb. — The 18-year-old convicted of killing an Omaha man in the parking lot of an apartment complex will serve decades in prison. Juan Velasquez was sentenced to 10 to 20 years for manslaughter and 10 to 20 years for use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. The sentences will be served consecutively.

NPPD's Cooper Nuclear Station implementing mobile notification system
(Brownville) -- The Nebraska Public Power District is planning updates to the emergency notification system at the Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville. NPPD, in a release Tuesday, announced that it will soon be implementing the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Integrated Public Alert and Warning System, or IPAWS, at its southeast Nebraska nuclear facility. Power District officials say the new notification system would allow them to eventually transition away from the sirens installed around the plant. NPPD Media Relations Specialist Grant Otten tells KMA News the alert would be similar to messages sent out in the case of tornado warnings and amber alerts.

AAA Activates 'Tow to Go' in Nebraska and Iowa for Labor Day Weekend
OMAHA, NE, (August 29, 2024) — As AAA prepares to rescue more than 300,000 drivers nationwide with car trouble this Labor Day weekend, it will also provide a free service in effort to keep impaired drivers off the road.
