CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — Entering his second year in Champaign, Luke Altmyer is back with the same offensive coordinator for a second season for the first time ahead of his fourth year in college.

Altmyer looks to reclaim his starting role after John Paddock largely held the starting job near the end of last season.

The junior QB was at Marketplace Mall on Friday to sign autographs and meet fans.

In his first season after transferring from Ole Miss, Altmyer racked up 2,165 total yards and 16 total touchdowns along nine starts for the Orange and Blue.

Altmyer enters this season excited to reclaim the starting QB job.

“Always chipping away at my fundamentals, my mechanics, working with the chemistry with my receivers and doing those things and I feel like I’m in a good spot,” Altmyer said.

“I feel as healthy as I’ve ever felt, as strong as I’ve ever felt, and faster than I’ve ever felt too,”
