CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — Illinois Women’s Basketball has found success in the portal, landing a pair of high-major transfers with multiple years of remaining eligibility.

The Illini have added center Lety Vasconcelos from Baylor, and in-state guard by way of Mississippi State, Jasmine Brown-Hagger.

Vasconcelos and Brown-Hagger credit their bond with the Illinois staff for their decision to make the move to Champaign.

    “They’re very consistent,” Brown-Hagger said.

“That’s what I’ll say about this staff. Every day is the same. What you get in recruiting is what you’ll get here and I’ve learned that. I made, I’m not going to say a mistake, but I made a decision and I feel like it brought me to make the right choice.”

“I feel like my biggest decision factor was definitely the connection with the coaches. Coach Green, Coach MCentire. All of the coaching staff, I’ve been with them since high school. Like super young, so like that connection being there it’s just sometimes, you’ve got to come back for it,” Vasconcelos said.
