Person in pickup truck killed after vehicle slams into building in Ridley Twp., Delaware County
A person in a pickup truck is dead after the vehicle crashed into the side of a building in Ridley Twp., Delaware County on Wednesday morning.It happened around 9 a.m. at the Community Services Foundation and BuxMont Academy building along MacDade Boulevard in the Woodlyn section.The impact was so powerful that the truck smashed through the exterior wall.The name of the person killed has not been released.It's not yet known if anyone else was injured.The circumstances of this crash remain under investigation.

Wednesday marks a sad day for the 6abc family and many local TV viewers.Wally Kennedy, a longtime host of 'AM Philadelphia' and 'AM Live' here at 6abc, has died. He was 76 years old.Every morning for decades, Philadelphia viewers watched him host the show that covered everything from entertainment to true crime to the city's social scene.As the show evolved to 'Philly After Midnight,' Wally evolved too, bringing a late-night edge to the show.In addition to the lighter fare, Wally often interviewed some of the biggest names in Philadelphia news and also hosted Inside Story, Sunday Live, and community parades.Wally left 6abc in 2004 and went on to teach at Temple University.He continued to broadcast as well, delivering the news on KYW Newsradio.Everyone at 6abc shares their condolences with Wally's friends and family.

Members of Philadelphia's largest city workers union vote to authorize strike
Members of Philadelphia's largest city workers union voted to authorize a strike on Wednesday afternoon.The more than 9,000 city employees represented by AFSCME District Council 33 have been working without a contract since July.Chopper 6 was over City Hall Wednesday evening as a massive group of workers marched around Center City.Mayor Cherelle Parker wants the union to agree to a short-term deal."It's not our place to discuss the union's tactics or strategies," said the Parker administration in a statement Wednesday. "We remain confident in what we've negotiated throughout this year with every other union representing our municipal workers, and we believe we will be able to find an amicable resolution with District Council 33's leadership and membership as well."The union is asking for a longer agreement, pay raises, and pension revisions.AFSCME represents blue-collar employees such as sanitation workers.
Department mourns after crash kills Pennsylvania police officer
The Phoenixville Police Department in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania is mourning the loss of an officer this week. The department said Officer Arthur "Art" Scena IV was killed in a crash on Sunday."It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that the Phoenixville Police Department must announce that we lost one of our own last night," the department said on Facebook on Monday.The department said the crash occurred in Warminster, Bucks County. More details on that crash were not immediately available.Scena was a native of Elkins Park who graduated from Cheltenham High School and Montgomery County Community College before attending the county police academy in 2010.He joined the department in 2019 after working as a corrections officer in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, and previously was an officer in the Philadelphia Housing Authority police and the Chester Police Department.Scena leaves behind a wife, step-daughter and daughter. A memorial fund in his name is set up with the Phoenixville Federal Bank and Trust and at an online fundraising website.
