Traffic signal at US 41 and Washington Street in Marquette to be out Monday
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A planned electrical outage will cause the signal at the US-41/Washington Street intersection in Marquette to go dark Monday evening. The outage is planned to begin at 6 p.m. Monday, July 8, and is expected to last up to two hours. The Marquette Board of Light and Power will be performing work requiring the power to be cut.

MARQUETTE, MI – H.J. Larson & Sons has announced the sale of one of its properties, The Ramada Inn, to MQT Collection6, LLC, an affiliate of the Base Hospitality Group. The sale will be effective as of July 2, 2024. The Ramada Inn, a prominent establishment in downtown Marquette, holds a rich history dating back to 1961 when Harlan J. Larson built the Downtowner Hotel, which later evolved into The Ramada Inn.

UP state parks offer fireworks-free Fourth of July weekend
CHAMPION, Mich. (WLUC) - The DNR and Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency are highlighting some quieter camping options for the Fourth of July. Fireworks aren’t allowed in any Michigan state parks, but there are a few campgrounds that will be less crowded and further away from fireworks than others. According to the DNR, that’s Wells State Park, Craig Lake State Park, Bewabic State Park, and Tahquamenon Falls State Park.

Down Wind Sports co-owner retires after 30 years
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - After 30 years of working for Down Wind Sports, Jeff Stasser finished his last day as co-owner Saturday. He purchased the business with his partners Todd King and Bill Thompson in 1998 to share their love of the outdoors. It has locations in Marquette, Munising and Houghton. Stasser said people don’t realize how big of a part outdoor sports play in the community.
