Girard, Salem practice for upcoming football season with 7 on 7 drill
SALEM — Salem and Girard got some summer work in during a varsity football 7-on-7 scrimmage Tuesday morning on the Quakers’ football practice field. Playing in mid-80 degree heat with plenty of water breaks, the teams went with full units in a controlled situational scrimmage to open the action before going into a seven-on-seven format with a 50-yard field.
Hiram athletics preparing to add three new sports for 2025-26 school year
Hiram College’s pending move to the President’s Athletic Conference for the 2025-26 school year will also see significant changes in the its athletic program. The Terriers will be adding three new sports when they join the PAC in women’s lacrosse, women’s bowling and men’s ice hockey.

Although the team eventually fell short of their ultimate goal to win the World Series, they got a taste of what success was like, and they wanted more. For the 11th straight season, the Youngstown State volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT. The Penguins were among more than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball programs that maintained a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale) and earned the award for excellence in the classroom.
