Both the Champlin Park boys and girls lacrosse teams won their games last week to reach the section semifinals this coming week, with the boys beating Forest Lake and Hermantown/Proctor, while the girls beat Armstrong/Cooper.

    Forest Lake

Champlin Park began the week with a 9-4 win over 11th-seed Forest Lake in the first round of the Section 7 tournament at home on May 28. Brayden Strausser ended the day top scorer with a hat trick, while Gavin Bosch and Ryan Korton scored two each. Austin Johnson and Zachary Link scored one goal each, while Jared Zabel starred off the scoresheet with three assists.

Forest Lake started the game strong, scoring the opening goal after surviving an early Rebels chance. The two teams exchanged goals to make it 2-2 at the first break. The Rebels took their first lead of the game through Korton early in the second quarter. Link and Bosch scored two more before halftime to make it 5-2 and set up Champlin Park for a key early section win.

Champlin Park entered sections on an eight-game winning streak, extended to nine with the win over Forest Lake.

    Hermantown/Proctor

The Rebels traveled far for their second game, facing third-seed Hermantown/Proctor on the road in a dominant 15-3 win in the section quarterfinals.

Champlin Park took an early 5-1 lead in the first quarter and kept their foot on the gas with eight second-half goals. Bosch, Strausser, and Matthew Berge scored a hat trick each. Zabel and Ethan Sevald scored two each, while Ryan Korton and Isaac Lee scored one goal a piece. Zabel also led on assists with five.

Champlin Park boys lacrosse will return to the field on Tuesday, June 4, playing the Duluth co-op in the Section 7 semifinal, after this edition went to press.

    Girls lax

Champlin Park girls lacrosse played one game last week, a 17-1 win over Armstrong/Cooper in the Section 5 quarterfinals, to begin the post-season strong. Both Reese Hagenbart and Annabelle Johnson scored four goals, while Lauren Schindlbeck added a hat trick against the Wings,

The win means the Rebels will play Maple Grove in the section semifinals on June 3 (after this edition went to press), with the final set for Wednesday, June 5.
