MADISON, Wis. -- Public Health Madison & Dane County announced Wednesday it is looking for information about a dog that bit a woman on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Public Health said the incident occurred at around 2 p.m. on a bike and pedestrian pathway near N. Sugar Maple Lane. The bite occurred as the victim passed by a dog being walked on a leash.

Public Health said the dog is described as a large, short-haired breed that is dark brown in color. The person with the dog is described as possibly a 13-year-old boy.

After the bite occurred, Public Health said the victim was later approached by a driver who asked her if she was bitten by a dog. When she told him "yes," the man apologized and said the dog was up to date with vaccines.

Public Health asks that anyone with information about this incident call the Police and Fire Dispatcher at (608) 255-2345 and ask for an Animal Services Officer.
