Man arrested after death of 21-year-old woman in Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. - A 23-year-old man is in custody after an altercation led to the death of a 21-year-old woman, according to Whitewater Police.

Just before midnight on Friday, Whitewater Police were called to an apart on the 100 block of West Whitewater Street for a report of someone suffering a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, police found a dead woman with multiple gunshot wounds.

Also, there was a 23-year-old man. Through the investigation, police determined an altercation occurred leading up to the shooting and that the two individuals knew each other.

There is no current threat to the public and an investigation is ongoing.
