North Carolina Tar Heels’ recruiting target Jasper Johnson continues to inch closer and closer to a decision and end his recruitment. And on Wednesday, Johnson named the five teams he would be focusing on for the remainder of his recruitment.

Johnson cut his list of 22 offers down to a top five, focusing on North Carolina, Arkansas , Kentucky , Louisville, and Alabama . The recruit is reportedly getting close to making a decision in his recruitment and this update could prove that further for the former Link Academy product.

As time has gone on, North Carolina has made Johnson a priority in the 2025 class, hoping to land him as the centerpiece at a guard spot. With RJ Davis leaving after this season and the potential for Elliot Cadeau and Ian Jackson to head to the NBA, the Tar Heels really need to land some guards.

Johnson hasn’t tipped much in his recruitment but many do believe that this is a three-team race with UNC, Alabama, and Kentucky battling it out to land him. There are currently no crystal ball predictions for Johnson as of yet, leaving some mystery as to who might be leading at the moment.

The 6-foot-4, 175-pound Johnson is ranked No. 12 nationally, the No. 2 shooting guard and No. 4 player in the state of Georgia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings . He recently announced he would be playing for Overtime Elite out of Atlanta for his final season of high school basketball.
