Farmers Market celebrates customer appreciation
Bardstown Farmers Market has been booming this summer thanks to the local community — and the market is now giving back to its customers. Since early June, the Bardstown Farmers Market has seen a peak in interest as new vendors and new customers find their way to their pavilion. The typical Saturday morning surge still brings early risers out of bed to be the first to get loaves of fresh bread and baskets full of fresh fruits and veggies. This week, the market is celebrating its patrons with Customer Appreciation Week — honoring their contribution to its success.

NEW RELEASE: Elijah Craig Toasted Rye
Heaven Hill Brands (Bardstown, KY) recently announced the release of Elijah Craig Toasted Rye, debuting late July nationally at $54.99 SRP and 94 proof. THE PROCESS: It begins with fully matured Elijah Craig Straight Rye Whiskey, which is dumped and then re-entered at barrel proof into a second, custom toasted new oak barrel designed in partnership with Independent Stave Company. The toast on these secondary barrels is unique to Elijah Craig Toasted Rye. At the end of the nearly hour long toasting process, a cap is placed on the barrel to quickly ramp up the heat to an extremely high temperature allowing phenols to embed in the surface of the barrel for an added element of smoke to complement the spice and sweetness of the Rye. Unlike many other finished whiskeys, this whiskey retains its status as a Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey because the second finishing barrel is both new and charred.
