Cleanup is underway across the Hudson Valley, including the hard-hit area of Chappaqua, from fast moving storms on Wednesday. Quaker Road (Route 120) remains closed this afternoon as crews continued to clear debris and downed trees. "For about 5-10 minutes it just blasted water and branches were coming down," said Henry Elias, a Chappaqua resident. The storm, which some residents described as feeling like a tornado, caused widespread damage in the neighborhood, with downed trees and branches littering Quaker Road and surrounding side streets. The road was closed between Meadow Lane and Greyrock Lane, causing significant traffic congestion as drivers turned around. Power outages were widespread after the storm, but most residents reported that electricity was restored within a few hours. "I think they fixed it fast, four hours they came and cut the tree," said one resident. "We were lucky to get the power back so we felt good about it." DPW and Con Edison crews worked throughout the night to clear debris and repair downed power lines. However, the cleanup effort is expected to continue throughout the day, with Quaker Road expected to remain closed well into the afternoon. "
