REOPENING OF CHARITON COUNTY ROUTE DELAYED UNTIL JULY

The reopening of Missouri Route 5 in Chariton County under the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge west of Salisbury has been delayed due to guardrail installation issues. Contractors working with the Missouri Department of Transportation now expect to reopen Route 5 on Wednesday, July 3.

Crews will be completing concrete paving and placing barrier walls through the end of this week and installing guardrail next week, weather depending. Traffic will continue to be directed on Route 24, Route KK and Route WW around the closure.

Route 5 in Linn County under the BNSF Railroad bridge reopened to traffic on Friday, June 21. This is part of a project that included the resurfacing of Missouri Route 5 in Chariton County, Route 5 in Linn County and Missouri Route 41 in Carroll County.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
