Jury convicts Newport News man for possessing cocaine in New Kent
A Newport News man whose erratic behavior led to his arrest has been convicted by a jury on possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Christopher Delyle Howard, 46, of 51 Poplar Avenue, was convicted of the crime during the July 18 trial. One charge of driving under the influence (second of subsequent offense) was dropped.
No more life of luxury: Richmond drug kingpin to serve 15 years behind bars
A large-scale drug trafficking organization in Richmond and Petersburg has been effectively shut down as the leader was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Friday. Curtis James Dickerson, 55, of North Chesterfield, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and fentanyl and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Hopewell fire marshal: Discarded fireworks caused soccer complex concession stand to burn
HOPEWELL – Discarded fireworks are believed to have set off last weekend’s blaze that almost destroyed the concession stand at a city soccer complex. According to a statement from the city, an investigation into the cause of the cause of the late-night July 14 fire found used fireworks material tossed near the stand at the Atwater Soccer Complex in northwestern Hopewell.
