Global fitness studio enters South Carolina market with downtown Charleston location

A global fitness studio “with a cult-like following” is opening in downtown Charleston.

Barry’s is making its South Carolina debut at Morrison Yard, according to a news release. With more than 86 studios spanning 14 countries, the pioneering HIIT studio known for its high-energy cardio and strength interval training workout is scheduled to open by the end of 2024.

Offering its RUN x LIFT classes, which blends high-intensity treadmill cardio with strength training, Barry’s will bring a group fitness experience to Charleston coined “The Best Workout in the World” since its inception 25 years ago, the release stated.

Hill Partners Inc., a Charlotte, -based commercial real estate developer that manages the retail leasing for Morrison Yard, worked with Barry’s on the leasing of its 4,072-square-foot studio space, the release stated.

“As a leader in the boutique fitness industry, with its high-energy cardio and strength training workouts, Barry’s is the perfect addition to our merchandising plan for Morrison Yard,” said Robert H. Spratt Jr., president of Hill Partners Inc., said in the release. “This exciting, new and market-exclusive tenant is a testament to our commitment to bringing premier health and fitness options, upscale dining, and beauty services to the property.”

Morrison Yard is a master-planned mixed-use project on Charleston’s Upper Peninsula developed by Woodfield Development.

Barry’s studio space at Morrison Yard will be outfitted with the brand’s signature Red Room, a Fuel Bar for pre-and post-workout shakes, and locker rooms stocked with premium amenities like Dyson hair dryers and OUAI’s best-selling products, the release stated.

The Red Room features iconic dim red lights, antimicrobial rubberized flooring, a booming sound system with specially curated playlists from best-in-class instructors, weights, bands, benches and state of the art Woodway treadmills, the release stated.
