CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Lowcountry residents will be dodging downpours off and on all day Thursday.

Storm Team 2 meteorologists advise locals to keep an umbrella handy throughout the day.

“You’re mainly going to stay dry after sunrise and then just before lunchtime, kicks up once again and into your afternoon and evening hours,” said meteorologist Grace Lowe. “The evening hours is the best time for most of us to be dealing with that washout situation.”

Towards the five o’clock hour is when evening commuters can expect heavy downpours. Storm Team 2 says drivers could see some flooded roadways.

Storm Team 2 forecasts there will be a lot of rain throughout a short amount of time resulting in a flood watch for the Lowcountry lasting until Thursday night. Meteorologists also say flash flood conditions could be possible, especially in the metro areas.

“Because of the rain, because of that significant cloud cover, we’re not going to be as hot and humid as we have been,” Lowe added.

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 80s to low 90s. Which Storm Team 2 says is a little below average for this time of year.
