Employee charged with stealing SC DMV funds
A Camden woman faces a felony charge for allegedly using state computers to steal thousands of dollars while working for the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. SLED agents arrested Julia Haley Baker, 22. She was charged with computer crime in the first degree and booked at the Kershaw County Detention Center and will be prosecuted by the Fifth Circuit Solicitor's Office. If convicted, she could be fined up to $50,000 and/or sentenced to up to five years in prison.
Mount Pleasant Police investigating crash involving bicyclist
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) - The Mount Pleasant Police Department is investigating a crash that involved a bicyclist and a vehicle on the Ben Sawyer Causeway. Police said, in a post on X, that the Ben Sawyer Causeway was shut down in both directions for a short time around 5 p.m. Sunday. The lanes going to Sullivan’s Island from Mount Pleasant were shut down for nearly three hours while officers investigated the crash.
