Habitat for Humanity schedules info sessions on home 13 News helped build

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — Potential homeowners have the opportunity to apply for a home on Charleston’s West Side that 13 News helped build for Nexstar’s Founder’s Day of Caring .

The home is at 908 Grant Street in Charleston. If you want to buy this house, which is through Habitat for Humanity of Kanawha and Putnam County, you’ll have to attend at least one of these two sessions:

• Monday, July 15 at 5:30 p.m.
• Saturday, July 20 at 10 a.m.

These sessions will be held at Habitat For Humanity of Kanawha & Putnam’s location on Court Street in Charleston, according to a press release.

People who attend will be given an application packet and information on homeownership through Habitat for Humanity, as well as information on the application process, sweat equity and education classes, the press release said.

For those who apply, the press release said you have until 3 p.m. on July 30 to return your application and other documents. If you have questions, call Habitat for Humanity at 304-720-0141.

Nexstar started Founder’s Day of Caring in 2016 as a way for our journalists across the nation to give back to the community. Our employees are given paid time off to volunteer.

In 2023, Nexstar said 240 organizations were served, 5,700 people volunteered and 17,523 total hours were donated.
