CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Thousands of rubber ducks were released from the South Side Bridge into the Kanawha River for charity as part of the 2024 Great Rubber Duck Race on Saturday.

Starting at noon, the signature event of the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta allowed people to adopt rubber ducks that will participate in the race. The proceeds of these adoptions go to United Way of Central West Virginia programs to help families in Kanawha, Putnam, Boone, Braxton, Clay and Logan counties.

The first 10 ducks to cross the finish line earn prizes, with the grand prize awarded to the fastest duck. This year’s winners can be found on the United Way of Central WV Facebook page .
