Dr. Rahul Gupta returns to Charleston for WV Health Right tour

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – The director of the Office of National Drug Policy was back in his old stomping grounds Thursday.

Dr. Rahul Gupta toured West Virginia Health Right’s recently expanded East End Clinic in Charleston. The organization opened the upgraded facility in June with the goal of improving healthcare access to underserved people in the Charleston area.

Dr. Gupta is no stranger to WV Health Right. He formerly served as the state’s Commissioner for the Bureau for Public Health.

“To me, this is home. this is also where my people are, and to be able to see some of my patients is heartwarming, but it’s also so grounding for me. This is where I get to see what’s happening, what’s working and what’s not working,” said Dr. Gupta.

The new East End Clinic cost $12 million and took five years of planning and construction to complete.
