    One injured, one charged after Charleston shooting

    UPDATE (3:51 p.m., August 7, 2024) — The man taken to the hospital after being shot with a shotgun Tuesday night is reportedly in stable condition, according to Charleston Police.


    UPDATE (11:41 p.m., August 6, 2024) — A man is facing a charge of malicious wounding after police say he shot his neighbor.

    Charles Myers, 60, of Charleston was arraigned Tuesday night. Police say that several neighbors saw him use a shotgun to shoot the man in the lower torso and right arm.

    The incident happened along Woodbine Avenue around 8:30 Tuesday evening.

    Officers say the shooting happened after the two men got into an argument. Officers arrived on the scene to find Myers in his driveway with the gun in the bed of his truck.

    The victim was taken to the hospital. There is no word on his condition.


    UPDATE (10:11 p.m., August 6, 2024) — The Charleston Police Department (CPD) has shared new details on the shooting that occurred Tuesday evening.

    CPD Lieutenant Tony Hazelett told 13 News that the shooting was the result of a neighbor dispute where one person shot another with a shotgun.

    The injured person is alive and the suspect was detained. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in about an hour.


    CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — One person was injured and another detained after a shooting in Charleston Tuesday.

    According to Metro 911, the shooting was reported on Woodbine Avenue around 8:30 p.m. The extent of the injured person’s injuries is unknown at this time.

    Police and EMS were on the scene.
