Tonkotsu Black and Tori Karaage from Menya in Elizabeth

"If you have yet to enjoy a hot bowl of noodles at Menya's counter, add the experience to your restaurant bucket list. I recommend starting with the Tori Karaage, followed by Tonkotsu Black, an 18-hour bone broth with pork belly and soft-boiled eggs (my favorite part)." — Alexandria Sands, reporter

Ice cream with sprinkles at Two Scoops in Plaza Midwood

"I asked for sprinkles with a side of soft serve ice cream — their solution: put the ice cream and sprinkle into a dish and put a cone on top. You can never have too many rainbow sprinkles." — Ashley Mahoney, reporter

Skirt Steak Chimi from State of Confusion in LoSo

"State of Confusion is a convenient late-night dinner option since they stay open until 1am on Friday and Saturday. I ordered the skirt steak chimi with a side of 'confusion potatoes' in addition to the side of mixed veggies that come with the dish." — Alexis Clinton, reporter

Tacos and yuca fries from Que Fresa in Wesley Heights

"Something about a sunny summer day just makes me want tacos on a patio expeditiously. I scratched that itch with a bunch of tacos and a side of yuca fries from Que Fresa in Wesley Heights. The chicken Caesar wrap from Blue Door Deli in downtown Waxhaw

"This summer I'm on the hunt for the best chicken Caesar wrap and soft serve with sprinkles — conveniently this place had both. The flavors were right on the wrap, but next time I'd double up on chicken and ditch the croutons. I wouldn't change a thing about the chocolate vanilla swirl." — Bri Crane, reporter

The Canestri pasta from Customshop in Elizabeth

"Don't sleep on the pasta at Customshop ; it's all made in-house and changes seasonally. Recently I tried the Canestri, which is kind of like a carbonara served with a poached egg on top." — Laura Barrero, editor
