    Fireworks, festivals and more: Where to celebrate the Fourth of July around Charlotte

    It’s time to celebrate the most patriotic day of the year: the Fourth of July.

    From fireworks shows to parties and parades, there are several events to celebrate the holiday in the Queen City all week long, before and after Independence Day.

    So let freedom ring and get ready for fireworks! Here’s a list of events where you can celebrate the Fourth of July around Charlotte:

    Cook Out Summer Shootout: Red, White & Brews

    Date: July 2

    Time: 5 p.m.

    Location: Charlotte Motor Speedway, 5555 Concord Pkwy S, Concord, NC 28027

    Cost: Adult tickets are $15; kids 12 and under get in free. First responders and military get in free with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at the gate.

    The event will showcase NASCAR racing’s future stars, who will battle in Legend Cars and Bandoleros on the frontstretch quarter-mile. A fireworks display will follow the race.

    Cherryville Independence Day Celebration

    Date: July 3

    Time: 6-10 p.m.

    Location: Rudisill Stadium, 401 E. 1st St, Cherryville, NC 28021

    Cost: Free

    The event will feature performances from The Swingin’ Medallions and DJ Johnny B, food and a fireworks display at the end of the night.

    Field of Flags Summer Celebration

    Date: July 3

    Time: 6 p.m.

    Location: Lowe’s YMCA, 170 Joe Knox Ave., Mooresville, NC 28117

    Cost: Free

    The celebration includes a field of more than 800 American flags, live music from N-Spire, food trucks and fireworks. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to get a good view of the show. For the safety of guests, grills, pets, sparklers and outside fireworks are not permitted.

    Fort Mill Indpendence Day Celebration

    Date: July 3

    Time: 6-9:30 p.m.

    Location: Fort Mill Amphitheater at Walter Elisha Park, 345 N. White St., Fort Mill, SC 29715

    Cost: Free

    Head to Fort Mill to celebrate the Fourth with food trucks, fireworks, roving entertainment and children’s activities. Pets and outside food are not allowed, but water can be brought into the event.

    Statesville Fireworks Celebration

    Date: July 3

    Time: 9:30 p.m.

    Location: Statesville Soccer Complex, 2012 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625

    Cost: Free

    Guests are encouraged to arrive early to get a good view of the fireworks show, hosted by the City of Statesville. Viewing locations include the soccer complex, Signal Hill Mall and King of the Sea Restaurant.

    Harrisburg July 4th Celebration

    Date: July 3-4

    Time: 4-10 p.m. on July 3, and 9 a.m.-11 p.m. on July 4

    Location: Harrisburg Park, 191 Sims Pkwy, Harrisburg, NC 28075

    Cost: Free, but there are fees for rides

    Two days of fun with a fireworks show each night, nearly 30 amusements, food vendors and live music. Shuttles will be provided between 5 p.m.-midnight each night. Parking will be available at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Z-Max Boulevard, 600 Racing and Harris Depot Park.

    Whitewater Center Fourth of July Celebration

    Date: July 3-4

    Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m. on July 3; and 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m. on July 4

    Location: U.S. National Whitewater Center, 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28214

    Celebrate Independence Day at the Whitewater Center’s two-day holiday event. The free outdoor festival will feature live music, the Tread, White and Blue 5K Trail Race and the chance to go rafting, ziplining and climbing through the evening.

    Matthews Independence Day Celebration

    Date: July 3-4

    Time: 9 p.m. on July 3, and 5-9 p.m. on July 4

    Location: Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews, 2425 Sports Pkwy, Matthews, NC 28105 ; Stumptown Park, 120 S. Trade St., Matthews, NC 28105

    Cost: Free

    Start with the Fireworks Spectacular in at the Sportsplex on Wednesday, then head to Stumptown Park on the Fourth for food trucks, beer, live music, activities for children and patriotic fun. No pets or outside alcohol are allowed at either event.

    Carowinds Star-Spangled Nights Fireworks Spectacular

    Date: July 3-4

    Time: 9:30 p.m.

    Location: 14523 Carowinds Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28273

    Take in the views of a fireworks show from where the Carolinas come together at Carowinds’ Star-Spangled Nights Fireworks Spectacular. On Wednesday and Thursday night, the amusement park will host a special display synchronized with patriotic music.

    4th of July at Birkdale Village

    Date: July 4

    Time: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

    Location: 8712 Lindholm Dr #202, Huntersville, NC 28078

    Cost: Free

    Head over to Birkdale Village for a special 4th of July block party and bike parade. Enjoy face painting, balloon twisters, magicians and more at the free, family-friendly holiday event.

    Stars & Stripes on Main

    Date: July 4

    Time: 10 a.m.

    Location: Downtown Mooresville

    Cost: Free

    Head to the annual Stars and Stripes on Main Parade in the heart of downtown Mooresville and witness “sea of red, white and blue” floats and performers to honor our nation’s legacy.

    Waxhaw Independence Day Celebration

    Date: July 4

    Time: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

    Location: Downtown Waxhaw

    Cost: Free

    The Town of Waxhaw is hosting its annual Independence Day parade, featuring floats, bands and horses.

    Angry Ale’s Merica’s Deck Party

    Date: July 4-6

    Time: 11 a.m.-2 a.m. on July 4-5; 10 a.m.-2 a.m.on July 6

    Location: 1518 Montford Dr, Charlotte, NC 28209

    Cost: Free

    Raise a glass and celebrate the holiday all weekend long at Angry Ale’s July 4th Celebration. The bar’s Merica’s Deck Party kicks off Thursday and runs through Saturday with festive cocktails, games, music from DJ Uncle Sam and more.

    Rock Hill 4th of July Celebration

    Date: July 4

    Time: 12-9 p.m.

    Location: Downtown Rock Hill

    Cost: Free

    The itinerary for the event includes a fireworks display, rides, water slides, food trucks, a beer garden and live music.

    Merchant & Trade’s Red, White and Views

    Date: July 4

    Time: 2 p.m.-midnight

    Location: 303 S Church St, Charlotte, NC 28202

    Cost: Free

    Merchant & Trade is hosting a special 4th of July party with a lineup of DJs from the Radical Grove Collective all day long. The rooftop bar’s Red, White and Views party will also feature special cocktails, a s’mores station and a photobooth for guests 21 and older.

    City of Gastonia Fourth of July Celebration

    Date: July 4

    Time: 5-9:30 p.m.

    Location: Rotary Centennial Pavilion, 107 N. South St., Gastonia, NC 28052

    Cost: Free

    Head to downtown Gastonia on the Fourth for food trucks, a beer garden, vendors, live music, a free KidsZone and fireworks to cap the night off. If you’re really hungry, you can try your hand at a habanero wing eating contest.

    Dallas Fourth of July Celebration

    Date: July 4

    Time: 5-10 p.m.

    Location: Cloninger Park, 305 W. Church St, Dallas, NC 28034

    Cost: Free

    Guests can expect live performances from the Ben Gatlin Band and The GIFTT, and plenty of food. Fireworks are scheduled to begin shortly after 9 p.m.

    Red, White & Belmont

    Date: July 4

    Time: 6-10 p.m.

    Location: Stowe Park, 24 S. Main St, Belmont, NC 28012

    Cost: Free

    Enjoy selections from local food trucks, get down to DJ and live music performances before ending the night with a dazzling fireworks display in downtown Belmont.

    Revolutionary Fourth in Kings Mountain

    Date: July 4

    Time: 6 p.m.

    Location: Deal Park, 11 North Cleveland Ave., Kings Mountain, NC 28086

    Cost: Free

    Inflatable bounce houses, face painting and a balloon artist are just some of the activities offered at the event. Attendees can also enjoy live music, food vendors and a special reenactment of the Battle of Kings Mountain before the fireworks begin.

    Independence Day at Atrium Health Ballpark

    Date: July 4

    Time: 6:30 p.m.

    Location: Atrium Health Ballpark, 1 Cannon Baller Wy, Kannapolis, NC 28081

    Cost: Game ticket prices vary

    The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers game against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers will feature a Fourth of July celebration and fireworks after the game.

    Lincolnton 4th of July Celebration

    Date: July 4

    Time: 6:30

    Location: Downtown Lincolnton

    Cost: Free

    Parade festivities include a spray zone for kids before and a fireworks show after that can be viewed anywhere in downtown Lincolnton.

    SkyShow Fireworks Spectacular

    Date: July 4

    Time: 6:35 p.m.

    Location: Truist Field, 324 S Mint St, Charlotte, NC, 28202

    Cost: Game ticket prices vary

    Ring in Independence Day with a night of baseball and fireworks at the annual SkyShow FireWorks Spectacular. The annual event — one of the largest fireworks displays in the region — will be held at Truist Field after the Charlotte Knights take on the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. You can continue the fun at Friday night’s game at Uptown BOOM! with more live music, pregame entertainment and fireworks.
