    East Charlotte home ruined by fire after candle accident; two dogs saved

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Four people are without a home after a fire in east Charlotte caused $17,000 in damages Friday afternoon.

    According to the Charlotte Fire Department, the fire occurred around 3:20 p.m. July 4 in the 5700 block of Ebley Lane. When crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the garage.

    Firefighters told Queen City News that four people were displaced but did not accept Red Cross assistance. There also were two dogs rescued from the home off Albemarle Road.

    The fire was caused by an unattended lit candle and deemed accidental.
