Pinpoint Weather Alert: Heat Advisory issued as ‘feels like’ temps reach over 100 in the Charlotte area

CHARLOTTE ( PINPOINT WEATHER ) — Friday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day with Excessive Heat likely for the end of the work week.

We start off warm with mid to upper 70s and low 80s locked in across the Carolinas. The skies are mostly clear but partly cloudy skies will move in later today. Winds will be light out of the southwest with spotty storms likely this afternoon.

Be careful for the excessive heat today as highs make a run for the upper 90s. The Heat Index today or your “feels Like” temperatures will be in the triple digits! Be sure to drink lots of water, take plenty of breaks inside, and keep an eye out for heat sickness or heat exhaustion.

Storms will have the potential to pack a punch in our mountain counties with a Marginal Risk for Severe Weather focused north of I-40. Tonight will stay warm as lows dip into the mid-70s overnight.

Saturday will start the weekend off hot with low 90s and spotty storms still very much part of the forecast. We’ll keep more of the same coming on Sunday as our summer pattern settles in.

We’ll be in the low 90s with afternoon pop-up storms possible for much of next week. The upper 80s return as we head into Thursday.
