    Missing woman found dead in south Charlotte home, search for vehicle underway

    CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A woman who was reported missing has been found dead this week inside a south Charlotte home, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police announced.

    The case has now been declared a homicide and authorities are searching for her missing vehicle. The woman has been identified as Whitney Elizabeth Hurd, 32, of Charlotte.

    Hurd was reported missing to CMPD by her family on Thursday, July 11. Authorities said her body was discovered at a home along Werburgh Street on Sunday, July 14.

    On Tuesday, CMPD said they responded to the area shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday in reference to a death investigation. The next day, the case was ruled a homicide after consulting with the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office.

    Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating her vehicle, a white 2014 BMW X3 NC tag: KJP-9368. CMPD said the vehicle’s current location is unknown.
