    CATS bus center to have closures for facility upgrades

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Charlotte Area Transit System facility at SouthPark mall is closing temporarily for upgrades.

    CATS officials said that sections of the Southpark Community Transit Center will be affected beginning Wednesday, July 17. The project will impact bus routes 19, 28, 30 and 57.

    There is no date for when the closures will end. The transit center is located underneath the mall off of Sharon Road.

    On Thursday, CATS is hosting three meetings throughout Mecklenburg County to get feedback on its Better Bus Study. They will be held at the following locations:

    • Charlotte Transportation Center – 300 W. Trade St., Charlotte
      • 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
      • 4:30-6 p.m.
    • Northcross Drive Park and Ride, 17126 Northcross Drive, Huntersville
      • 6-8 a.m.
