CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two teens — 13 years old and 14 years old — were arrested for an armed carjacking after leading Charlotte-Meck police on a chase.

On July 16, shortly before 9 p.m., CMPD Metro Division officers responded to an armed carjacking incident in the 300 block of South Summit Avenue. The victim advised that his vehicle was stolen at gunpoint by two suspects.

Early Wednesday morning, around 10 a.m., officers responded to a License Plate Reader hit on a stolen vehicle in the Freedom area.

Officers attempted a traffic stop on Queen City Drive. The vehicle fled, initiating a pursuit.

The vehicle continued on I-85 South and drove into Gaston County before returning to Mecklenburg County on I-85. The pursuit ended when the two juvenile suspects jumped and ran in the area of Hickory Bluff Court.

Both suspects were taken into custody and officers recovered a handgun near the stolen vehicle.

Secure custody orders for the juveniles were applied for and denied by the NC Department of Juvenile Justice.
