( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) – A teenager has been arrested and two others are still being sought in connection to a chase in a stolen vehicle that ended in southwest Charlotte, authorities said.

The ordeal began shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, when CMPD’s Real Time Crime Tracker had a license plate reader hit on a reported stolen vehicle.

CMPD officers tried to pull the vehicle over and the driver refused to stop. CMPD’s Aviation Unit continued to follow the vehicle, which had three teens inside.

The stolen vehicle drove onto I-77 South and then entered York County. Deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Office briefly pursued the vehicle before it reentered Charlotte.

CMPD said the vehicle continued to drive recklessly in the Steele Creek area before the teens jumped from the stolen vehicle and ran away in the area of Williams Glenn Road.

Multiple units responded to the scene, as well as CMPD’s K-9 Unit to set up a perimeter. One teen was arrested without incident. Two others have not been located at this time, CMPD said.

“There is no indication of an active threat to the community,” CMPD said.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. All tips are anonymous.

Callers are eligible for a $500 reward if an arrest is made as a result of their tip.
