CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE ) — Charlotte will host four of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s championships next year, the league announced Tuesday.

In addition to the previously announced ACC Football Championship Game returning to Bank of America Stadium, other sports crowning conference champions in the Queen City include men’s basketball, men’s lacrosse and women’s lacrosse.

The 2024-25 academic year will be the first with the ACC featuring 18 schools following the addition of Cal, SMU and Stanford. The ACC sponsors 28 sports, with 15 women and 13 men. No Power 4 conference sponsors more than 28 sports or 15 women’s sports.

Clemson’s Dabo Swinney isn’t big on transfer-portal recruiting. That’s at odds with his ACC peers

The announcement also included the championship formats for the newly expanded conference.

“The upcoming year shapes up as an exciting one for our schools, our student-athletes and their incredible fan bases,” said ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Ph.D. “We again have a terrific mix of on-campus sites and professional venues, including our football championship and men’s basketball tournament in Charlotte.”

The football championship is being held at Bank of America for the 14 th time in 15 years . The men’s tournament returns to Queen City for the 14th time overall and the first time since 2019, when the ACC had three No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament and Zion Williamson and Duke defeated Virginia for the league crown.
