    Charlotte native Kaylyn Brown wins silver with Team USA

    Charlotte native Kaylyn Brown helped Team USA set a new world record in the mixed 4x400-meter relay.


    Catch up quick: The 19-year-old Mallard Creek alumna and Arkansas athlete ran the final leg of the relay, crossing the line at 3:07.41.

    • Team USA broke their own record — 3:08.8 set at the 2023 World Championships.
    • Fellow relay runners were Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Bryce Deadmon.

    Context: The mixed relay , which consists of a team of two men and two women, is fairly new to the Olympics. It made its debut at the Tokyo Games in 2020.

    What's next: The Mixed 4x400-meter relay final is on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 2:55pm. The Olympics are being broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
