Miles Sanders Could Be Cooked For Fantasy

After signing a four-year deal with Carolina in the 2023 offseason, Miles Sanders disappointed massively in his first year with the team. He started the year off as the team's starting RB but was quickly sent to the backup role after showing very inefficient numbers on the ground. Throughout the season, he had 129 carries for 432 yards (3.35 avg).

In his three games of starting, however, he did produce a decent volume of targets (20) while bringing in 12 receptions for 68 yards. Sanders has always been a solid receiving back, giving him a good upside in full PPR leagues. This offseason, the Panthers drafted Jonathan Brooks in the second round, which shows the team’s little confidence in Sanders.

Brooks will likely not be 100% ready at the start of the season, which could give Sanders a chance to prove that he is still an NFL-caliber RB. However, due to a heel injury, he has been forced to miss valuable off-season work with the team's new coaching staff.

He will likely find himself still behind Chuba Hubbard in the depth chart, and a poor Panthers offense might not give a backup RB the best opportunities. Once Brooks is fully ready to go, Sanders will probably fall back into fantasy irrelevance.

Our consensus projections for Sanders in the 2024 season are 41 carries for 129 yards and 1  rushing touchdown. As well as 3 receptions, 20 yards, and 0 touchdowns.
